I have yet to understand how bunching ex-offenders together is going to be helpful to the ex-offenders or anyone else. Anyone have a clue?"

EO - Whoa there! Misinformation alert!

The building is not only finished, it is filled and thriving. It is NOT for chronic offenders. It is permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless families in very nice, very spacious, 3/4/5 bedroom units.

Excerpt:

"PPL and Pillsbury United Communities open innovative, permanent housing for chronically homeless families.

Twenty local families that have faced chronic homelessness will now have a permanent home in Collaborative Village on Franklin and Elliot avenues in Minneapolis. This newly constructed facility links services directly to permanent housing. The goal is to create a mutually supportive community among residents who will help one another succeed."

Pillsbury is doing a great job providing academic and recreational resources for the kids and teens in the building, as well as job search resources, community space, safe play areas for kids, mentor families, monthly resident meetings, a drill team for the older boys, and much more.

A similar version of this is being developed for my neighbrohood (Lind-Bohanon), which will replace the Camden Motel on Lyndale Ave N. It will also be a collaberation with Pillsbury and will house single dads and their kids.
