I find it amazing how the Park Board, like most school districts, spends fortunes looking for a combination of Theodore Wirth, Frederick Olmstead, Cass Gilbert, Baron Haussmann, Robert Moses and Mother Theresa to run the park system.
And this individual when hired, like school superintendents, will update the ol' resume' and start flinging it around the country, ready to pull a Lou Holtz when the opportunity arises. And of course pricey consultants will still continue to be used as another image is created (or re-created) for the system). You know, there's not a lot of money to do really major things to a mature system. Would an individual with the attributes as described above really be interested in coming here, even considering how great the system is? Especially when a feuding Park Board is also what awaits. Is it possible that what is needed is a good manager?
