Five black women in the kitchen of a Texas diner: grease slinging, onion
chopping, gossip swapping. You know what they say if you can't stand the heat
better. The year is 1968, the period between the assassinations of Martin
Luther King and Robert Kennedy. The day begins with a murder and by the end of
their shift, each woman must navigate a difficult ethical decision in an
atmosphere that boils with uncertainty, and sizzles with possibilities. This is
a play about friendship, faith abandoned and renewed, and five women with much
on their minds and people on their nerves.

While the reviews have been great (recommended by both the Star-Tribune and
City Pages), according to Melissa, audience attendance last night was
unfortunately VERY light. That needs to change.

This is the last weekend that the production will be running. Tonight at
7:30pm and tomorrow at 3pm. If you are interested, and able to go, please do!
Tickets are only $15! ($10 if you live in the 55411 or 55412 zip codes, and
free if you are a North High student).

If you go tonight, I'd like to invite you over to my place for a little
after-performance gathering. To discuss the show and continue in our community
building efforts on the north side. The play is only about an hour and a half
long, so we'd be coming back to my place around 9pm. Plenty early to enjoy good
conversation, a cup of hot cider or coffee and dessert.

Please e-mail or call and let me know (by 5pm, if possible), so I can plan
for numbers. Also, please feel free to spread the word to anyone else who may
be interested... all are welcome!

  Peace,

  Brian
