This holds true on the national and local level. The sad thing, on the local
level, they keep getting elected and have for many years! Used to be the
free tire giveaway now is it not in the form of giving services and projects
to special areas?

The Highland Villager had a good article about school closings in
Minneapolis. A point that was interesting was newly elected Lee is totally
opposed to the plan because it creates too many K-8 schools before there are
not enough effectively trained administrators to handle them. " We need to
build teacher's skills before creating more K-8s . There are 23 k-8 schools
in the district now and only a handful of them are doing well. " Judy
Farmer agreed with her, saying "Lee is right that there have been problems
providing challenging middle school programs that prepare students for high
school and beyond...she is right that better trained administrators are
going to be needed for middle schools and new K-8's but Henry-Blythe
thinks there are ways to address Lees concerns...she does not anticipate
slowing down the decision process any more...."We don't want to create K-8
schools and not have them do well. Part of it will be getting training and
finanicial resources to the right places."

If we did not get the training and resources to the right places
before...what makes it going to happen now? If we had K-8 schools not doing
well before...why wasn't that issue addresssed long before now? They laid
off how many teachers and they do not have enough effectively trained
administrators to handle the schools? Why? I believe we needed to close some
schools but a plan should have been instated prior to closing to correct
problems existing. I am glad Lee is going on the board.
