I think it is a great policy that needs more publicity. I ran into it being used once on 94 and thought it took much of the stress and frustration out of lane closure. Outside of that I haven't heard anything about it. I would love to see people's behavior change to use the zipper merge by default.

On a similar note, what is southbound traffic on Stevens Ave. supposed to do after crossing 36th St.? There are three lanes north of 36th. The leftmost is a marked left turn lane and the two on the right are not specified. After crossing 36th, there are no lane markings on Stevens, so two lanes magically turn into one, yet people still seem to treat it like there are two lanes. Regardless of the lane I pick, I'll have people passing me on the other side. It doesn't seem safe to have a road change the number of lanes with no warning or indication.

Should the middle lane be marked left turn only, or left turn/highway access? Should Stevens have lane markings south of 36th?
