For the past couple months a group of U of M students along with staff at
Seward Neighborhood Group, Seward Redesign, and a couple other
organizations have been working on a map of businesses within walking
distance of the Franklin Avenue Station.

The students researched the businesses along Franklin and some side
streets and created an index of businesses. A brochure has been produced
that has a map and index of the businesses. You can get copies of the
brochure by stopping by the Seward Neighborhood Group office starting
tomorrow. Hopefully, we will have brochures in Franklin Avenue businesses
in the very near future.

The group is also working to get a permit from the city to install a map
and index of businesses on city property adjacent to the LRT station.
Provided we can get permission we envision a poster display similar to
what you find in malls.

The impetus for this project was a map/index of businesses along the
Denver LRT lines as well as the numerous "you are here" maps in transit
stations in cities such as Boston and various European cities.

This project, while focusing on the Franklin Station, will hopefully spur
someone to complete a project for the entire line. Anyone? Anyone?
