dorie... I am in strong favor of all girl classes especially in math and sciences. I use to have a class I would bring into some of the schools...young girls would not interact as they should when with the boys. Put the boys out of the classroom...the girls came alive. The change was so unbelievable, one would not have known they were the same young students who refused to interact ten minutes prior. Schools should have control of their budget without the school board starving some for the sake of others. As far as the Edmonton plan...I watched a seminar on Edmonton and thought it made a lot of sense and I think it would work in Mpls.
Went to see Hasting's film on homelessness at Oak Street Cinema. 100 homeless people die a year. Homeless people work but need to be paid $13.00 an hour in order to pay for rent. Most make $10.00 or less. One of the saddest commentaries was a woman whose landlord gave her 24 hours to move out..She did not know any better so moved out ...taking what she could; ending up in a shelter.
