Friends of the Mpls. Public Library does fund raising.  And there is a
formal capital campaign raising funds.  Raising funds for ongoing operating
expenses is usually more difficult however, and many funders won't even
consider support of ongoing operating expenses... i.e. NRP and most
foundations.  Citizen support is always a possibility, but the list of many
worthy causes just seems to grow every year.
