Booker Hodges wrote: The below is the strib article in today's paper about reporter Dave Chanen. Some us us have been complaining about Chanen for sometime. Maybe it's time he resign his attitude is not what I like to think of when I think about Minneapolis. Thank God the editor did something. He say's he made a typing mistake yah right and I'm dating President's Bush's daughters.
Mark Anderson replies: Booker, I read this in the Strib. I was mystified when I read it, and am still confused. Apparently the reporter wrote "colored officers" instead of "officers of color?" Is this what you are asking him to resign over? I hope I'm mistaken, because otherwise this sounds like the dumbest politically correct outrage I've heard in a long time. Normally English is clearer and more succinct when one puts the adjective before the noun. It sounds like the reporter did what comes naturally as a writer, and forgot to put on his PC hat when he sent the e-mail. And this was an e-mail, not something he had to subject to the Strib's style book. Please tell me I misinterpreted what I read. Mark V Anderson Bancroft REMINDERS: 1.
