Thanks for the link to the NY4P website, Jason. I'd suggest that the reference to 'urban park nirvana' is actually just a relative state of mind construct-- just another case of the grass always being greener somewhere else.
Regardless, kudos are due to someone at MPRB for some well placed PR (public relations) in NYC. I'm sure it translates to potential tourism value added in Mpls., one way or another. Evidently said PR wasn't forwarded to/or read by writers at the Star Tribune, however, where they recently (12/5) referred to the independent Park Board as a 'frequently dysfunctional' body and recommended eliminating it's independent status in favor of making it a city department. But then I'm always impressed with Central Park-- winter or summer, more so during the daytime than late at night, however. I know that I always try and include a walk in the park with any trip to the Hayden Planetarium, the Metropolitan Museum or the Guggenheim on Fifth Ave. But then, maybe it's just another case of urban park nirvana? I don't know if they have a separate police force in Central Park than in Times Square, Soho or Battery Park.
