Amen. It would appear that the Rev. Battle "outed " her in a manner of speaking. I think it's unfortunate that the Rev. Battle chose to include her -- and others -- in the opinion piece that he authored and that supported Bachmann and her legislation _unless_ it was done with her consent (or at least acquiesence).
Once he did, however, she has chosen to remain quiet and has neither associated herself nor distanced herself from the Rev. Battle's stated position. Perhaps she believes it's a personal matter or perhaps she's ambivalent about it. That isn't indicative of a political leader, IMO.
That's my problem with all this. The Greens - who endorsed Natalie Johnson Lee - are saying that Battle misrepresented her. However, when I talked with Natalie to get clarification on this, she refused to answer my direct questions about this.
Natalie Johnson Lee is an adult, and has the obligation to make her position clear on this.
It's also notable that Natalie Johnson Lee is the only African American elected official Battle mentioned. Keith Ellison, Toni Carter, Neva Walker, Debbie Montgomery were all not mentioned in this article. This suggests that Battle didn't just quote people without their permission - but rather quoted individuals on this issue after talking with them.
