I am totally opposed to every suggestion made by Mr Marshall. I am livid at the WCAL sell-out to Bill Kling's MPR corporate empire. Monopolies suck. MPR sucks. Their deal is to get all the public stations, and gut them of any "controversial" ideas or culture, making the airwaves safe for the rich, and useless for reform or open discussion. But perhaps Mr Marshall wants just this result.
I like jazz. Why do we need another corporate owned station to dish out the same old crap all the others are? I suspect Mr Marshall might be for privatizing as much of the public commons as possible, to let the rich get even more control over the public than it has now. I advocate keeping all that is public now public, and socializing a number of areas. Socialism. Community. The welfare of all, not the privilege of the few. WalMart/MPR capitalism is life- and community- destroying. Surely we've had enuf of this with the last two stolen elections, the move to privatize social security and medicare and the internet, the invasion of Iraq, torture gulags - vicious dog eat dog imperial capitalism, destroying wherever it goes. Time to say No More! Time to roll Bushism back! Time to keep and defend KBEM as a public station. Mr Marshall mentions low power FM. When it came up for action nationally and locally a few years back, guess who was in the forefront of voices AGAINST it? Yep, our good old buddy, Bill Kling and his MPR media empire - LPFM would have been OUT OF HIS GRASP, and out of the corporate grasp, enabling ordinary citizens to express themselves. Well, we can't have THAT! Someone might express a democratic un-corporate thought! Advanced capitalism requires mind control. Time to re-examine the so-called American Dream of getting filthy rich and to hell with community and everyone else. Time to reject all that propaganda churned out by the right-wing think tanks that everything public should be sold off, that capitalism is the highest accomplishment of civilization, that the rich taking all the money and power is "inevitable". The people have been stopped for now at the national level by two stolen elections, and slowed locally by the likes of Pawlenty and Kelly. But the city level is where the people have the most power - we must take a stand here, and start pushing back!
