An up front investment in early detection and treatment would mean less spent on tree chopping, stump grinding and replanting. And we'd preserve more mature trees. The USDA Forest Service believes that eradication is possible through pruning and fungicide treatment.
The $100,000 MPRB just slated for a new putt-putt golf course in North Minneapolis would be better spent on early detection and treatment of Dutch Elm Disease.
