Some of you will know the name Peter Schmitz. He was, prior to moving to St. Paul, a frequent poster here--and to us, one of the most interesting and principled.
Peter passed away on December 23. On this list, he was, we think, a model of unselfish leftist thought, someone whose politics sprang from his genuine concern for those less fortunate than himself and from his strong sense of justice. He was fearless in calling out our elected officials' subservience to corporate and wealthy interests. And while maintaining a sense of humor and fun, he did not water down his words in pursuit of a political or financial expedience. If he was off base, he would admit it.
