It is quite appropriate to name CSAH 81 after the great 19th century French-Indian explorer, peace maker, and civil servant Pierre Bottineau. From our city limits northwest CSAH 81 follows not the route of West Broadway but the route of former US52 to Osseo and then former MN 152, closely parallelling the old Great Northern tracks to St.Cloud. If the 'burbs want to extend their Bottineau Boulevard into Minneapolis a better route would be across Lowry, a street misnamed after a streetcar magnate but too hilly for streetcars to navigate.
Which begs the question... will the Lowry Avenue Bridge ever reopen?
