My name is Elizabeth Glidden and I would like to introduce myself as a
candidate for the 8th Ward City Council. I am seeking and will honor the
DFL endorsement. I am an 11-year resident of Kingfield neighborhood, where
I live with my husband, Eric.

For the past ten years, I have been an advocate for social and economic
justice. I am an employment and civil rights attorney with the firm Hedin
Goldberg & Glidden, P.A. My public service work on behalf of immigrants,
working people, and victims of discrimination includes working with many
non-profit, community, and professional organizations such as the Somalian
Womens Association, the Interfaith Center for Worker Justice (a program of
the Religion and Labor Network), Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights, the
National Employment Lawyers Association (Minnesota Chapter and national),
and others.

A City Council member must have the skills to provide good service to
constituents - listening to and working with individuals and community
groups - as well as to set policy, improve governance practices, and prepare
the City for the future. As someone who has worked with community groups
and has worked on shaping policy, I have the ability and experience to do
both. Key issues that I am eager to work on include transportation,
affordable housing, economic development, and crime and public safety. I
look forward to contributing more as issue discussions develop - time
constrains the length of my post right now.
