Articles that have crossed my desk indicate that DC (the City) itself is being "forced" to cover a lot of the costs whether they like or not. From an already deficit budget they are having to take out millions of dollars to "help" today and tonight's events happen harmlessly.
Seems to me if people are paying $100,00 to $250,000 for tickets to sit in the grandstand with the President, be in his motorcade parade in the streets today and go dancing and carousing tonight the least they could do is pay for the protection they think they deserve.

After all it isn't like DC doesn't have some other issues like: teachers in their schools, homelessness, jobs to name a couple that the dollars could be used for - shame, shame, shame!

I am going to settle down here at home partying with my Phillips neighbors at the Zuriah "palace" on the dime of Allina and Wells Fargo. Seems more Inaugural (or anti-inaugural - depending on how you feel) to me and at least we all know each other, will eat good and can wear what we want without having to buy a new dress and the corporations are coughing up the money.

Wouldn't be nice if some of those lobbyists and their companies who run Washington would pay for their own security.

Oh well, another equal and fair justice issue. - what we will face the next 4 years.
Charming, just charming,

Actually, D.C.'s Congressional rep, Eleanor Holmes
Norton, said today that D.C. itself is paying the
wages and per diem of the extra officers (possibly
from their anti-terrorism monies), in addition to many
of the other associated costs. She didn't mention who
picked up the transport costs, nor whether those
officers are drawing any pay from their home
departments as well.

selected to go and provide security for the President.
It is my understanding that this is all being funded
