Some of us who have given at least part of eight years of our lives to NRP in
our neighborhood did make it a priority in our lives. We asked for everyone
else to get involved even if it was only for ONE meeting or to fill out a
survey. Yes I was raising an infant granddaughter when the this all started and
now she is nine. She was able to learn about the night sky because of course
when meetings got over it was dark. Did you Know we have Toe Nail Moons? But
was still able to chair the Crime and Safety Portion of our First Step as well
as Full Step.
It all comes down to how important something is to us individually.
As I've said many times over the years if you weren't involved than you
can't complain about how it was done. Make sure you are next time and you can
have more input.

The scary thing about the NRP is that supporters claim that
it is "neighborhoods" that make decisions, when in fact
it is a small minority of people who "show up" and those
who show up may have no expertise that qualifies them
for making decisions allocating hundreds of thousands
of dollars. In fact, much of the time they may use no
common sense, curiosity, or sense of responsibility at all
and in reality, the only requirement is that they do indeed
"show up." Which leaves the rest of us who are too busy
working and rising children at the mercy of their "decisions."
