Greetings:

Susan Young, the Trash (and Recycling) Lady here.

The piece that was sent out by Mayor Rybak is completely recyclable in the
Minneapolis recycling program. No matter how hard I try to get the word out,
many people still believe, in error, that envelopes with cellophane windows,
glossy paper and colored papers are not recyclable. These are ALL RECYCLABLE
in Minneapolis, and are, in fact, recycled if you put them in the brown paper
bag with the rest of your junk and office mail.

I realize that glossies may not be recyclable in some cities....but then, glass
and plastic are not recyclable in many cities. Of the hundreds of recycling
programs that I've reviewed, no two are exactly alike. It is important to know
what is recyclable in your city. Minneapolis has an outstanding
program....with great thanks to our customers that keep the program successful!

Brief Commercial Announcement(s):

Please don't forget to shovel out your garbage carts and recycling bins before
your collection day next week!

We will now send you a Recycling Reminder if you wish!!!! Go to our web site:
www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/solid-waste for more details!

I noticed the piece is on glossy stock and can not be recycled as it gums
the machinery, thus off to the garbage burner.
I also noticed the piece is not on recycled paper, probably because it
cannot be clear coated.
I also noticed there is no union bug on the piece.

It calls into question whether RT is a defender of the environment and a
union supporter.
