Went over and looked at the WING in the early morning sunlight. Loving modern design, along with preservation of old, I was disappointed in the structure. The coloration of the structure reminds me of the sixties building, the glass is nice and is being done a lot in new buildings, the pillars added some interest but gives one thought ... where are they going with this design? Could it be the modern day frieze work which correlates to all the frieze work of the Sullivan buildings in the warehouse area. So they did not bother me....then to view it from the east looking west. Two blocks of buildings shining bright in the morning glow and this darkened protrusion bridging the two with no esthetic or architectural value. For me...my opinion now...it looks like they designed two buildings estranged from this roof....needed a connection and came up with the wing thing. It does not work.
Surely, they will take pictures of it in many creative shadowy turns, spin about how wonderful it is, perhaps it will grow on us ....or give rise to the soar of an eagle's wing? I don't know....I personally do not care for it and totally understand from what angle MD made her statements. It's like going to an art show with crummy art and everyone is wooing and ahhing with the pretense of understanding the artist's far reaching meaning of creativity...which is not there. dorie rae gallagher nokomis .
