As for PR, I currently am opposed to PR because under this system, a party, not
a person, is elected...and the person who sits in office is only elected by
party members...the party takes a percentage of seats and chooses who
represents them. You therefore end up represented only by party hacks and
political insiders.
This makes it effectively impossible for non-affiliated independents, or people
who are new to the process to get elected.....and they're kept out of the
process too much as it is. I would want a way of making it easier for
independents and those who aren't part of the establishment to get elected.
I also believe that ALL individual office holders should face a general
democratic election of some kind, however I DO suport Instant Runoff Voting as
a fair means to accomplish that goal.
