"Where traditional retail operations are growing at about 4.5% annually,
online sales are growing at a rate of 28%. It's clear to see where the
trends are going. They are going to online stores.

These figures are good news for every business owner, particularly those in
small towns. Why? To successfully compete nationwide or worldwide is no
longer a problem for small businesses. When a business has a professional
online presence, the size and location of the business are not readily
apparent. Anyone can compete online with the right knowledge and tools.

In addition, the cost associated with starting a business online or moving a
business online is relatively cheap. It takes a website and some savvy
marketing skills. Let's look at how we can cost effectively achieve this."

Comments from Vicky:

A couple of months ago, the Strib published a chart showing sales tax
receipts in the metro area. Minneapolis alone showed sales tax receipts
DROPPING. Increasing the sales tax will accelerate the demise of retail
businesses, and of course the property tax base that includes them. Never,
never, never, have I seen such a stupid idea.

Who in his/her right mind would shop in Minneapolis - and pay an extra 1%
sales tax? Financial masochists and those who have no choice, that's it.
Well, I suppose that overpaid government employees won't mind because they
will see it as perpetuating their own paychecks.

It's hard to keep track of all the anti-business crap coming out of City
Hall. Let's see....

Destroy the bars,
Destroy the retailers,
Destroy the private apartment owners,
Spawn millions of square feet of vacant office space,
Regulate everything that moves out of existence,
Build and buy overpriced monuments that generate NO income,
Give away millions of dollars to political insiders,
Give away millions of dollars to corporate welfare seekers,
Tax, tax, tax, small businesses until they are bankrupt,
Tax, tax, tax, individuals who can't escape (or ride the LRT to Bloomington)

Minneapolis - the City where everything is banned or mandated, until it can
be taxed or regulated to death.

That old adage is true - you get the government that you deserve. At least
those of you who choose to stay.
