Reminder: Please attend tonight's (Wednesday, Feb. 16) Park Board meeting at 5:00pm at the park administrative offices located at 2117 West River Road.

In addition to the melange of items on the official agenda documents I previously posted (go here to see that list: http://www.mplsparkwatch.org/node/view/217), it is rumored that there may be a vote on letting the University construct a boathouse on the Park Board's east river flats property.

In other news, on February 10, FERC denied both Crown Hydro's application for an amendment to their original license allowing them to move the location of the power house from the basement of the Crown Roller Mill building to Park Board property, and also denied their request for an extension of time in pursuing getting that property (in Mill Ruins Park) from the Park Board via lease or eminent domain. In part, FERC wrote:

"The Director orders: (A) The licensee's amendment application to change project design and to relocate the powerhouse filed on April 4, 2002, and supplemented on July 1 and December 13, 2002, is dismissed. (B) The licensee's request for an additional extension of time to file an acceptable conveyance of Park Board land, or evidence regarding the right to use eminent domain authority under FPA Section 21, is denied. (C) This order constitutes final agency action. Requests for a rehearing by the Commission may be filed within 30 days of the date of issuance of this order, pursuant to 18 C.F.R. * 385.713."
