Another alternative is the Prospect Park/East River Rd. Assoc. candidate forum on Tue., Feb.
22, 7:00, St. Frances Cabrini church, 1500 Franklin Ave. SE (1 block east of the Mississippi
on Franklin) Both candidates for mayor and all five candidates for the ward 2 council seat
will be there. It's not billed as a "debate" but there will be time for Q & A.

Though it is regrettable that the Mayoral Debate (Feb. 23, Washburn
H.S. at 7 p.m.) and the Conference on Minneapolis Neighborhood
Groups and Citizen Participation fall on the same evening, they both
represent great opportunities to spur citizen participation in the
   future of our city.

As the organizer of the debate, I am, of course, partial. Did I
mention we have Kerri Miller as our moderator?

That being said, for my money I would argue that whichever is your
preference on the 23rd, please attend one. We must find a way to
engage and retain the thousands of new citizen activists that raised
their voices in 2004. It is o.k. to be pleased that we are a blue
state today. To be content or complacent with that fact would be a
terrific waste and a potentially damning mistake.
