Anyone who is interested in this thread would be interested in the PBS
program "NOW" that will be rebroadcast on channel 17 on Monday night.
(It was on last night on Channel 2.) It includes a segment on the
basics of municipal broadband access, the Philadelphia effort to provide
it, an effort of a small Indiana town without adequate service to
provide it, and the efforts by the big communications companies to kill
