This is not an issue of sacrificing freedom, it's a matter of
owning up to responsibility. There's radical demarcation
between banning smoking in bars and restaurants and banning
the use of cell phones while driving. The members of my
family can walk 100 feet from our home and be killed by one
of the many irresponsible drivers running the Stop sign in
front of our house. We would have to make an extended effort
to find a bar or restaurant where we would be subjected to
secondhand smoke. Conscientious participation in drug-use,
prostitution, gay marriage and other consensual behaviors
also has no impact on our family.
