I am sorry, if the irony was missed. But it is no more ridiculous than the ascertain by some that there are indeed sufficient police to address the problem in those impacted neighborhoods. The Minneapolis police are simply over worked. Why? Because there are not enough of them. The Minneapolis police are trying as hard as they can, but they are so busy answering calls that they do not have the man power to do an adequate job.

I was struck by the post about bicycle paths and the millions needed to make it work. There seemed to be no problem aquiring such funds. Perhaps we need a "grants" department that can also go out and raise the money to provide those extra fifty cops this year. Families and children are at risk, yet they are such low priorities that Minneapolis can not find the funds to adequately offer them public safety. If Minneapolis is in such dire straights then perhaps the corporate and charitable community needs to be called upon to assist the bankrupt Minneapolis. Of course if Minneapolis is so bankrupt of such values it might be difficult to bring such valued corporations into our community?

We really need to stop such humor and admit that our "leaders" seem to not know what the essentials of a quality community are. It starts with safe communities, everything else is just extras. Simplistic yes! But if your family and children are not safe, then how can Minneapolis be a quality place to live?

Let's stop the political bull and get a little beef into solving Minneapolis problems.

We should measure the quality of our City by the way we provide for our elders, our handicapped, and our children. It should be the intent of Minneapolis to build community by laying a foundation on such principles and to organize its structure to guarantee the safety and happiness of our most vulnerable. If City government fails in this most basic of principles, then it has failed to provide a quality community for all of us.

We need "leaders" who understand such principles and act upon them.

Jim Graham,
Ventura Village, in what many of us had thought to be such a City.

and with the greatest brilliance is not the diamond.

The rarest of all gems is the truth.

Yet as scarce as truth is, the supply has always far
exceeded any demand for it. In fact it may well be the
lest desirable commodity in the Universe.

Ask any politician." - Toe
