Actually Dennis, the legislator was Rep. Keith Ellison. The bill was 
co-sponsored by at least one rural republican legislator. The bill would have 
reduced sentences for possession of crack by requiring that the person have 
$10,000 worth of crack in their possession to be convicted of street level 
sales or $50,000 to be convicted of dealing. It reduced the amounts required 
for convictions for methamphetimens. There was passionate testimony at the 
public hearing for that bill from people in Minneapolis. I was one that 
testified. There were police and other long term activists there to testify as 
well. The bill did not move out of committee. Not sure what has become of it 
since.
