Ya know, perhaps these 3'x3' stations are meant to be part of the upper
levels of new or retrofitted buildings along Lake Street? I can see these
supplementing the larger and more conventional stations I remember from Ed
Anderson's
PRT concept that I remember from years ago. I can even see building owners
paying for them voluntarily should PRT ever become a reality in any given metro
setting as it would be good for business and a cost easily passed to tenants or
building users in some way.

I even seem to recollect many answers Anderson had to Ray Marshall's
questions; Anderson had all sorts of answers and ideas, but never a working
pilot
program. I'd like to see a PRT system at the MN State Fair to replace those
trams
that interfere with pedestrian traffic before I see any government unit bond
for a system. I'd like a piece of that pie in the sky, if it worked in a
practical application transferable to use in the real world metropolitan areas.

Ray Marshall:

I have been reading about PRT now for about 30 years or so, back from the
days when the Minnesota Experimental City was to be built up around McGregor
in the world's biggest swamp.

I have yet to see three questions answered.

1) Who will be cleaning these vehicles between trips? Do they really think
that all passengers will leave them as clean as they found them?

2) If I should happen to leave my Neiman Marcus or Tiffany's shopping bag
in my PRT vehicle when I reach my destination, where will the next rider
leave it so I can easily get it back?

3) What is to prevent some thug from joining me for my ride?

I think we better make all those 25 story office buildings referred to below
a tad larger to allow for a little more overhead in the operation of PRT.

Barb Lickness:

If I heard correctly, CM Zimmermann wants the city to issue bonds for $600M
dollars to pay for PRT. He suggests knocking down parking ramps and building
25 story office buildings in their place because the city won't need parking
ramps any longer.
