To be fair, it's important to acknowledge yet another excellent article in this week's Skyway news...March 14-20 2005. "Envisioning an Island." by Scott Russell. There's an entire history of the jocks of DeLaSalle versus the islanders who want to protect their open spaces and preserve the historic integrity of the houses they worked so hard to rennovate.... Fascinating to learn that the current drive for expanded athletic fields for DeLaSalle started in 1979, and that a 1983 "Nicollet Island Agreement" tried to give each side what they wanted. Once again in this article, there's history, a good timeline of summary of the agreements, and interviews with all the major players on both sides... and many hours of hard work and informative, insightful writing.
