Council of Great City Schools provides a district-wide assessment

Right on the heels of Minneapolis Superintendent of Public Schools Thandiwe 
Peeblesâ âstate of the districtâ report (âPeebles aims at long-term fix 
for 
Mpls schools,â MSR February 9, 2005) comes an independent assessment of the 
district as it existed at the time Peebles took over.

The audit, done by a group called the Council of Great City Schools, was 
commissioned by Peebles and conducted by two groups of auditors in September 
and 
November. The first group examined the academic dimensions of the district, 
while the second group focused on finances and federal programs.
