I actually have felt the same way the last 2 times I had a to cross Hiawatha going east. I have been avoiding it like the plague as sometimes it seemed I waited 5-8 minutes. I have hit it within seconds recently. I hope it is for real and lasts because I go over to Seward a lot and I hate going Cedar to Franklin and around instead of straight across.
