List members, There has been a lot of discussion of the pros and cons of the Fort Snelling athletic fields. I also have been critical of the decision to build and maintain those fields from time to time. My frustration is/was born out of the fact that our local neighborhood park fields are in such terrible shape in many cases and I would have given them priority.
However, I would suggest that it is not one or the other. The reality in my mind is that we need BOTH good fields at Fort Snelling and Bryn Mawr AND good fields in our local neighborhood parks. That is the challenge for our city - not one or the other. Anything that we can do to increase athletic participation of residents and kids is good for all of us. Sincerely, John Erwin Citywide Park Commissioner REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
