By and large, I think that Mineapolis offers a wealth of opportunities for kids, including young children. However, there is one area where I think we're lacking: indoor areas that offer children exercise opportunities. Especially with smaller, younger children, who don't yet have a lot of body mass, this is a real need in the winter. This is a place where the suburbs are ahead of us. I think it would be great if the Park Board would look into providing some such facilities.
One might argue that we should be doing more of those Minnesota-style outdoor winter sports. I don't know whether it's global warming or what, but the past few years have been just ROTTEN for sledding and ice skating --- too many burps of warm weather and too little snow[1].
