I know the April 1 story is fun, but perhaps you should have had comfort 
from the "Grandmother's Lake" as you walked around Nokomis.  The ghosts were 
not from the lake, they were friendly spirits.  Perhaps more folks need to 
know that Nokomis means "Grandmother's" in Ojibwe. So the lake is 
Grandmother's, and everyone knows that Grandmother is a source of comfort 
and teaching for all of us.

Perhaps we should remember that there were "First Americans" here FIRST. 
Though Minneapolis has not always treated the "First Americans" as well as 
even the very latest of immigrants, we do owe a great deal to the rich 
heritage that was originally here.

So those Viking timbers were resting in Grandmother's Lake down in 
Grandmother's Neighborhood. Doug of course comes from Grandmother's East 
Neighborhood.
