The Day of Silence, a project of the GLSEN and the USSA, is a student-led day of action where those who support making anti-LGBT bias unacceptable in schools take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT students and their allies.
Many Minneapolis middle schools, high schools and colleges and universities are participating. Below find events at the U of M, events at Augsburg, and a notice about the "Night of Noise" this Friday. The Night of Noise is a celebration for students who participate in Day of Silence and open to glbt students and allies. A resolution has been introduced supporting these students efforts in the U.S congress. No MN representatives are currently signed onto the Day of Silence resolution.
