Actually, a lot of credit also goes to Scott Russell, SW Journal and Skyway News reporter. It was he who examined the city's affordable-housing stats and aggressively, but fairly, pressed the mayor's office. (To the mayor's office's credit, they quickly acknowledged their mistake and quickly revised the count.) At this late date, I can't remember whether the chicken or the egg of public comment and Scott's reporting came first, but his work should be remembered as a big part of the equation.
