A few things come to mind about the newest stadium deal.
Anyone who wants to lay this completely at the feet of the county commissioners and thereby Peter McLaughlin and not the mayor is blind or so deeply compromised by their support of the mayor that one cannot trust their judgement.
I agree that if this is put to a referendum the deal will fail. We live in a representative democracy which means we elect people and empower them to make decisions. Our recourse for what we consider bad judgement on their parts is to vote them out of office. My only fear is that our pussy footin' Governor will call for a referendum. Without his unqualified support this deal is toast.
Finally, I hate the location. That damn garbage burner and all that concrete. Those parking ramps, aside from being another hidden tax by the county, will be clogged worse than Bill Clinton's arteries. It's just not that great a location in my estimation.
Aside from my personal feeling about the location I like this deal and I will support politicians who stand behind it.
