I do not think Peter "Fesses Up" is accurate Dyna. McLaughlin "Continues to tell the truth" probably is better.

After being told by several of Peter's supporters that he opposes taxpayer funding of pro sports stadiums it was a pleasant surprise to hear Peter "fess up".

I am amazed by your post Dyna. At least Peter McLaughlin will tell us the truth about what he stands for. I seem to remember another candidate who "Promised" to oppose the stadium to get our votes, and then one week after entering office became the Stadium's chief lobbyist at the State Legislature.

Which as the mayor of a weak mayor city is part of his job- representing the city before other governmental bodies. The fact that he gave testimony does not mean he neccessarily supported a taxpayer funded stadium.

Some people would rather vote for someone who tells them the truth, even when they disagree with it, than to vote for someone who tells them what he thinks they want to hear in order to get elected. Truth and ethics do mean more to some folks than just "promise". Truth does mean more to some than just empty promises to get votes.

Agreed, but Peter's "fessin' up" is not enough to win the support of this uncommitted delegate.

Demagoguery Dyna? What about truth and supporting labor and "Party"?

Well, truth is both Peter and R.T. have been strong supporters of labor. Both have supported the party also, but I haven't seen much of Peter campaigning for other DFLers this millenia, while R.T. has campaigned long and hard for other DFL candidates these last couple election cycles.

I am also surprised that someone who gives such lip service to being a DFL'er does not support the only person agreeing to abide by the endorsement of that same DFL. Wasn't it you Dyna who took Samuels to task on that very issue?

I spent a lot of time in Iowa in january of last year. I learned from that experience that it is quite possible for our scared caucus system to be just as corrupted by big money as a primary. And given the "success' of some of our past endorsed candidates, sometimes we need a primary as a check on the ability of some candidates to stack an endorsing convention.

Also, isn't it you Dyna that always talks up union labor and supporting that labor? Perhaps you are unaware of the stance of even the City Employees and Firefighter's Union's on the race. That "Labor" supports McLaughlin!

Again, the truth is that the Minneapolis Central Labor Union has decided not to endorse yet- the general feeling of the delegates is that both candidates are friends of labor and an endorsement before the convention would divide the house of labor. While a few union locals have made endorsements, mine has not.

Perhaps Dyna does not think those things matter, but then again perhaps Dyna just jumped the gun, and perhaps Dyna should rethink her stance and support those unions and that party she gives a great deal of lip service to supporting. Not voting for someone because he is the only candidate who is honest enough to tell the truth is a hell of a reason. It seems to me that the politician who has done the most, and been the most active supporter of the stadium is RT Rybak. Just because RT was totally ineffective at getting it done does not forgive him. Perhaps that is where we have come to in Minneapolis politics? Electing someone because of false promises and failure? Yes Dyna, perhaps you will see the paradox in that.

Jim, it seems that you're struggling to make an argument for your candidate without enough facts to support one. Ultimately my vote will go to the candidate who will best serve my precinct which I have a responsibility to represent. While I am not completely happy with all his actions, R.T. has at least visited our precinct and tried to help us while Peter seems not to wander far from the upper floors of Hennipen County Government Center.

hoping for a quiet weekend in Hawthorne,

                Dyna Sluyter
