The highlight of the day was Candidate for the Board of Estimates and Taxation Carol Becker, who stepped up during a ballot count and gave her introductory speech. It was short, informative, and funny as all get out. No disrespect to Wally Swan for years of unsung work, but the Bd. of E&T is a yawn. Or has been until today.

We talked, we gathered, we evaluated, then we went home. It really is true, we cannot find a compost candidate who embodies the ward. It was doubly difficult this time with the ward shifting around like it has.

It began to look like another SSB vs. Rip Rapson event through two ballots after Hauser dropped. Remembering how bitter a fight that was, we declined, we sighed, we adjourned.

Both Sandra Miller and Zack Metoyer were there. Miller announced that she was tossing her hat in for the council seat. Zack may have too.

My hat's off to Brian Melendez. Boy, can he run a meeting. Wowser.
