McLaughlin: No. It's hard to run against an incumbent who does 12 photo ops a day.... His whole campaign has been designed to paper over any difference between us.

Peter, give it up- until you caved in and voted to tax us for another new stadium for a billionaire you haven't done much memorable this century. A seat on a county board tends to be almost as secure as Civil Service with a lot more freebies. So if you want some PR, get out and fight the good fight like R.T. does (usually).

Which neatly transitions to R.T.'s current playing about the third rail of Mill City politics, anything even resembling a stadium tax. While RT may have picked up the support of a few of us uncommitted delegates when Peter sold out to the Pohlads, RT lost them and some of his base too when he sold his soul to the same billionaire a few days later. With uncommitted already leading the straw polls before, it now looks like uncommitted could now win on the first ballot, but I suspect the rules won't allow such a quick "no endorsement" vote. Of course, Jesse Ventura having set precedent by running under a stage name there's no reason a straw candidate could not run as "No Stadiumtax" for the DFL endorsement. Problem is, said straw man or woman might win on the first ballot!

While I generally don't approve of the drain of money and resources primaries put on the DFL party, in this case Peter's and R.T.'s campaigns would probably be quite well financed by the Twins and their extended economic empire. Might even be a good thing to see the young activists in the DFL get a few months paid employment working on these high buck campaigns which could pump a couple million into the local economy.

Which would probably be the most we'd ever get out of a new stadium.

        still uncommitted in Hawthorne,
