More than a week after emailing my County Commissioner (Gail Dorfman), and the swing vote on the stadium issue (Peter Mclaughlin), briefly expressing my opinion/concern over the proposed tax I have not received a response from either. My question for other Minneapolis residents and Hennepin County residents is: What type of accoutability to the public do these officials really have?

Last I checked they were holding elected positions. If they do not have to respond to their constituants concerns what's to stop them from passing rules/ordinances/taxes with much more severe consequences to the residents living in Minneapolis?

I've spoken to collegues who have had the same experience on this issue. Any advice on how the system is supposed to work (malcontents included)?
