Last season it was about 22,000 per game. This season, attendance so far has
been about 25,000 per game.

Yes. And in my opinion, this actually is an argument FOR the sales tax
proposal because while ballpark opponents try to claim that a new ballpark
only benefits the team's owners and those who attend games, the reality is
that the new ballpark benefits anyone and everyone who is a Twins fan. So if
you sit at home and watch games on TV, this is how you get to contribute
towards keeping your team around and competitive.

And contrary to popular misunderstanding, a Hennepin County sales tax does
not put all of the burden on Hennepin County residents. You don't pay sales
tax based on where you live. You pay it based on where you spend your money.
So if you live in Owatonna and visit the Mall of America, for example, you'd
be helping pay for the new ballpark.

That's also why the argument of making this a metro-wide or statewide tax
rather than "burdening" Hennepin County residents falls short. There are
already enough folks from around the state (and outside the state, for that
matter) who come and spend their money in Hennepin County that we can get a
new ballpark for such a miniscule tax that most people really won't notice.

And if you're a Hennepin County resident who really can't stand the notion
of parting with three cents for a ballpark, you can go do your shopping
outside the county, though you might want to sit down with a pencil and
paper and figure out how much extra gas it's going to cost you in order to
save that three cents...

I know this season's home opener in April sold out and the second game was
close to a sellout.
