It is not that I feel Project Stop is necessarily a bad idea. It is that I do not know enough about it to be able to determine whether or not it is actually going to be of benefit to the neighborhoods on the northside of Minneapolis.

I do know, from what I have been told by several officers, that effectively, 11-13 officers for STOP (including 2 sergeants) came from the 4th precinct and that to facilitate this, the evening CRT team was disbanded. I was also told by these same officers that the effective street staffing for the STOP project would equal 2-3 squads on the street at any given time. It would be great if someone were able to either confirm these assertions, or provide more accurate information.

If the information I have received is accurate, I do not see how STOP is going to benefit the northside neighborhoods, where livability crimes are probably more prevelant than any orther geographical area in the city.
