In just today's daylight hours a flame war has ignited over an endorsement, not one but two mailings from Peter have landed in my mailbox, and the pre recorded and disembodied R.T. has phoned me. I remain unimpressed.

The endorsement flamings are taken seriously only by those who take the endorsement process of these special interest groups seriously. Having seen these processes from inside I have observed how it is all to easy for a small group of one candidates supporters to pack an endorsing meeting and sway the endorsement to their candidate. We delegates aren't dumb and realize that RT and Peter are both friends of the environment, gay community, etc.... So quit insulting our intelligence!

Peter's recyclable mailings should provide a short but insignificant bit of heat in the woodstove this chilly night. They certainly provided no light though upon the subject, containing more or less Peter's usual cheap shot at how many police and firefighter positions we lost and some vague threat to NRP. As usual, Peter provides no clue as to where he'll get the money to bring those cops and firefighters back. His flyer blames "City Hall appointees" for "threatening" NRP "last year". Peter, it's 2005 and NRP is still here, and even if NRP were dead the mayor's fingerprints are nowhere on the body.

R.T.'s robocall was at least upbeat and positive.

p.s. Just got a call from a firefighter at Peter's phone bank- he didn't win me over but it was nice to talk shop with a fellow public employee.
