Great article. Unfortunately I'm not surprised that
all the DFL city commissioners who might be up for
re-election on the committee voted to postpone the
resolution while Paul Zerby who is not up for
re-election joined Natalie Johnson Lee in voting
against postponing a vote on the proposal.

What has the other city councilors on the committee so
bound to the stadium sales tax without a referendum?

Ostrow, Goodman, Barret Lane(not up for reelection and
not a DFL'er or Green), and Scott Benson all voted to
postpone a vote on the proposal. Are they trying to
give Rybak and McLaughlin cover for their unqualified
support of the new stadium proposal?

Three of these city councilpeople are from what is
called by some in citywide elections- the fertile
crescent- the more affluent neighborhoods of far
south, southwest, the lakes and downtown which vote at
much higher percentages than much of the rest of the
city.

Is the gambit that these heavily voting wards are not
as concerned about the stadium tax sans referendra or
more likely to be in favor of a stadium since they are
where the most people in the city who can afford
ballgame tickets live?
