Subject: [Mpls] stadium without library money

The stadium bill no longer has the 2 million allocated to the
library...taken out by Rep. Peterson of Bloomington. He was worried
Minneapolis would get the lion's share of the money. Could it not been
split the same percentage as we pay our taxes.. 35% for Minneapolis, 12% for
Bloomington, 5% Edina etc.

Talk about being a little too self-centered! Rep. Peterson (R-Bloomington)
could have added language that would have allocated a percentage of the funds
between Minneapolis and Hennepin County (making sure that all the funds don't
go to Minneapolis). I have always encouraged and supported cooperation with
Hennepin County. I would have been fine with a 50/50 split; a million dollars
for more hours in Minneapolis would have been very helpful. I can tell you that
the Hennepin County Commissioners would not have allowed the majority of
funding to be given to Minneapolis. Does Rep. Peterson not trust the Hennepin
County Commissioners, the Hennepin County Library Board, and the Minneapolis
Library Board? Taking out the funding seems to be both anti-Minneapolis and
anti-libraries.
