This morning my husband and I attended the Memorial Day ceremony at Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery on Lake and Cedar in South Minneapolis. What a treat! Attendence surpassed the number of chairs, (a good sign, from my perspective) and the program was very good. Of course the weather was fantastic too...
Kudos to the local Legion, VWF, Boy Scouts, Seward Concert Band, and of course the Friends of the Cemetery, and others who put their energy into this event. It was also very cool to hear Connor Bohne of South High give Logan's Orders and the Gettysburg address. After the ceremony, we (the husband and I) headed over to Maria's on Franklin for cachapas venezolanas under the sun, soothed by the gentle murmer of of gurgling fountain out front. What a great morning! The one thing that surprised me was the lack of elected officials at the ceremony... perhaps they were at others somewhere in the city?
