You might have seen them at city hall, attired in Armani suits,.... They are
the suite gangs of Linden Hills. They are the cronies of RT Rybak and Peter

Ya know, if you're going to play this kind of silly game, you could at
least put a little zip into it, show that you had a feel for your
audience. I wouldn't know an Armani suit if I tripped over it, so it
doesn't "resonate," as they say. Ergo, you've set yourself up to lose
readers in the first paragraph.
Peter, RT, et.al. wear their pants at their wastes, with a belt even.
Most of them could run across the block to help an old lady without
having to hold up their pants and none of them has ever been reported to
have shown his/her vertical smile to the populace. All of them can talk
without having to use m****f***** for every one of the parts of speech.
They all look and smell as though they bathe at least once daily. They
went to school in grade school and high school and college, probably got
good grades, too.
Entry level suite gang members get appointed to nonprofit boards of directors
and city commissions, are included in lists of endorsers of DFL machine
candidates, get staff positions with the Mayor, city council members, non-profit
agencies, etc. And mid-level suite gang members are appointed to $100,000 per
year department head jobs at City Hall and 807 NE Broadway (School board HQ).
Wrong again, round eyes. They have come through some form of working
with people which required them to plan and execute specific sorts of
work in order to be noticed enough to have even a hope of getting on a
board, let along getting DFLers to vote for them. Peter, I think I
remember, worked for Earl Craig at the Urban Coalition during the years
when they were doing all the research into what really were the issues
in cities. RT was a reporter at the Strib, then went into business for
himself as a PR guy, I think. They showed up for work every day--on
time. Their phone numbers were listed in the book.
I know this is hard to swallow, but they have been observed knowing how
to do things. Isn't that remarkable? They also know how to speak to
people so that those people will consider voting for them. They have
somehow learned the gentle art of persuasion so that they can, if in
office or in of the work force or the boards force, convince others to
go along with their way of addressing an issue, a problem, something.
Peter, at least, has been elected over and over and with reason.
There is an implicit anti-intellectualism in your screed that I find
offensive. From my own experience, you really do have to know something
to operate effectively on boards, particularly neighborhood boards which
tend to be down and dirty all the time. (Those of you who are
experiencing a lull in the machinations in your neighborhoods, enjoy.)
The gang bangers of Linden Hills also engage in hostile takeovers of
organizations representing the African American community. Of the names listed below, those preceded by *** denote past or present Minneapolis NAACP officers,
including 3 branch presidents.
Mr. Mann, you have fought with the NAACP for the last what--ten years or
better? With no end in sight. The NAACP doesn't seem to be buying what
you're selling.
Presently, you say you're running for office in the 8th ward. I vote
there. Give me one reason why you think I should vote for a person who
write screeds like your latest? What could you do that none of the other
8th ward candidates can do? I'm sure there are white collar criminals in
the 8th ward for, yeah, verily, they are spread out. But right now it's
the no collar criminals who are making the quality of life in the 8th a
tad more gritty than I want to put up with anymore. What could you do
about it? How would you manage Lake Street's redevelopment process? How
would you deal with the competing interests in different parts of the ward?
