I must respond regarding the disparaging remarks and implications ascribed to my neighborhood, Linden Hills (LH), and residents of the 13th Ward in general.
As a long time resident and homeowner in LH, I confess that I do not now, nor have I ever owned an Armani suit. I confess to white collars and silk ties, but no $1000 brief cases or soft leather shoes. I've never peddled Twins stadium proposals (nor proposals for any publicly financed professional sports facility), and I'm not much of a fan of subsidized development in general within the city. I support private property rights and private investment throughout our city-- I think we need more of it, and many of my neighbors agree. And, after living in the neighborhood for over 26 years, I must say I've no knowledge of the so called 'suite gangs of Linden Hills.' Yes, I've served on the Capital Long Range Improvement Committee (CLIC) and the City Planning Commission, yet I can assure everyone that I'm nobody's crony. I've volunteered in my neighborhood and in our public schools- both neighborhood schools and city wide. My kids went through the public schools. I've started non-profits and served on non-profit boards of directors. There are many like me in LH and throughout the 13th Ward. We work hard and we play hard. I think Doug has his wires crossed... maybe shorted.
